Update 8PM Friday Night Oct 27

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG Day. The staple king has lots of healing to do and this day has been a begining... A Marine amputee came by to visit and answered Josh's questions about weight of prostesis...taking a shower with titanium legs etc...and running the Marine Corp Marathon ...which several amputee Marines are doing tomorrow. One is wearing a shirt with Josh's name on it!!
Josh has started receiving your kind cards, gifts and flowers. The BIG card from NelNet is AWESOME. He has the inventory of available DVD's and hopes to feel well enough to start viewing tomorrow.
Julie gets to go home and be with Brandon, Ashley and Ben Sunday (just in time for Halloween costumes) and Jenni returns here Sunday....
The specialists in charge of Josh trach (breathing tube) have a plan to move to a smaller one then one with a flap so he can talk and then soon we hope - take it out!!
We are all impatient but truly Josh has been here for only ONE week today and what has happened in this short time is no less than amazing.
You would all be so proud of Josh. You would also be surprised to see Julie and I with no make-up,rumpled clothes and tennis shoes necessary for speed and comfort! We can put on a surgical gown, don gloves and find suction, gauze or any other item Josh needs... We can use medical terms correctly and we no longer flinch at tubes carrying all sorts of body fluids. We can even eat dinner while discussing medical proceedures in great depth with other family members...
Forgive us for not answering your emails or phone calls. We will try to send thank yous eventually for all the kindnesses and gifts to Josh and the men and women here at Bethesda. Hug your loved ones right now...life is very wonderful!! M
