10/25/06 Update 6:30 PM
This is Myra...
Josh has been moved from ICU to the Surgery Floor....he has had 2 units of ...has been drinking water and had a little Ensure for nourishment. Julie is setting up his DVD player so he can tune out and go to sleep. Tomorrow is another huge day....Ortho surgeon Dr Anderson advises us they must go in through his back and work on the hip joint again...also they hope to close the wounds on his legs...change his hand casts to splints...and hopefully adjust the sedation to ease the horrible experience he had last night...possibly 10 hours of surgery.
Great staff here...great families...great support... so, so food :) I have been taking pictures so we can show Josh where he spent all these days...hard to believe we are so close to DC and sad to know how far we are from all of you....
We are researching the best items to send either Josh and or the other heros here at Bethesda. Josh got a generic gift pack today with 3 pair of socks... yucky! So give us a few days and we will "interview" the staff and Marine liasons to offer the best suggestions for your generosity... With the hip surgeries, there may be more time to send things here to Bethesda
